Negative Space is an anonymous online tool called Negative Space to visualize regrets, designed to help people discover the parts of regret they have not yet recognized. Through this campaign, people are hoped to gain an entirely new way of seeing.

Detailed Description : Logo and ACT Matrix
Negative Space Archive is an anonymous online archive where people submit regret stories and receive an AI-generated “negative space pattern” that visualizes the hidden constraints, values, and overlooked gains shaping their regret. The product’s purpose is to shift users from fused, self-blaming narratives toward a fuller contextual reading—using ACT Matrix logic and visual figure–ground principles as the interface language.
The four color in the logo comes from the color of the four quadrants of ACT Matrix. The way of the squares dragging out a picture is the branding style of this thesis, implying how the negative space is revealed from the positive space.
The ACT Matrix has four dimensions, divided by away and toward, inner and outer. Away corresponds to moving away from what feels painful, and toward means moving toward what feels meaningful; while outer and inner measure whether a keyword leans more toward an action or a thought.
For the two quadrants on the away side, outer-away refers to the actions people take in order to move away from pain, while inner-away refers to the internal psychological activities accompanied by pain.
On the toward side, outer-toward refers to the things people do in order to move toward meaningful goals, while inner-toward refers to the people and things that are truly important in one’s inner world.
Mechanism
I designed 20 keywords (5 words within each quadrant of ACT matrix) to describe the hidden perspective of regrets. AI will be used to analyze a paragraph of regret, where it extracts keywords and reinterpret the original prompt into a new perspective of the same thing.
